Does Your Child Need Braces Early

In today's world parenting is a difficult task and looking after your precious one's health is perhaps even more challenging.in this article we will discuss the situations when you should consult an orthodontist and also when you can relax and keep a watch.

  • 6-8 months is the time when you should  see appearance of teeth in your child's mouth. There can be a fluctuation of 2 months but beyond that you must see a dentist at the earliest.
  • Your child is suppose to have mild gaps in between front milk teeth which is used later to accommodate the larger permanent teeth.Do not intervene unless the gaps are too huge or you notice any missing tooth.
  • Between the age 8-10 there can be a gap between two upper front teeth and this condition too will be auto corrected in 1 year but visit a braces specialist if doesn't happen so.
  • If you notice any jaw is protruding too much specifically the lower jaw and if its a girl child then a prompt action is needed. The growth of head including jaws completes much earlier than the rest of the body and for girls its even faster so correcting the anomaly in a  later stage may not be possible and may have to wait till the age 18 for surgical intervention. The ideal age to correct such growth hazards is between 7-10.
  • The new tooth often appears behind the milk tooth and will eventually make its way forward but if the milk tooth is not shedding at its scheduled time frame then it may pose a problem so visit the braces clinic within 6 months of such uncalled for appearance.
  • If any milk tooth falls off too early because of any trauma or had to be taken out resulting from caries its essential to see an orthodontist for the fabrication of space maintainer as the space created by sudden loss of the milk tooth may eventually be taken up by other present teeth and it will not be reserved for the scheduled permanent tooth and you will find it coming up in mouth from the most unfavorable site or may be trapped inside bone for life.

Having a good set of teeth is important to have a healthy mouth and also contribute towards confidence building.Lets keep the stars of the future ready and smiling.
